Caption: Songwriter Hall of Fame Announces 2024 Nominees.'The Independent' reports that Public Enemy, Tracy Chapman and R.E.M. are among the nominees for the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame. The long list of nominees also includes Kenny Loggins, Timbaland and sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. The other nominees are Steely Dan, Bryan Adams, George Clinton, Blondie and the Doobie Brothers. Voting members have until December 27 to submit their ballots with three songwriter nominees and three performing-songwriter nominees. 'The Independent' points out that Adams, R.E.M., Blondie, The Doobie Brothers and Heart were all nominated last year but didn't win. Gloria Estefan, Snoop Dogg, Sade, Jeff Lynne, Glen Ballard and Teddy Riley were all inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame last year. The organization was formed in 1969. In order to be considered as a nominee, a songwriter must have a notable song catalog that goes back at least twenty years. Past inductees include: Brian Wilson, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Lionel Richie, Bill Withers, Neil Diamond and Phil Collins.
