Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Taylor Swift's new 1989 version outsells original

Caption: Taylor Swift's new 1989 version outsells original. The reworked 1989 (Taylor's Version) has shot to the top of the Billboard 200 album chart and is the first LP to debut with 1 million units sold in its first-week twice, both in 2014 and 2023. The new record beats the first-week sales of the original 1989, making it her first re-recording to out-sell the original album, recording sales figures of 1.6 million units. It also had the biggest album sales week of 2023, beating Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and Midnights and giving her the three top selling albums of the year. The records keep coming, as she is the first female artist to score 13 number one album debuts on the Billboard 200 and has extended her record as the female artist with the most weeks at number one on the U.S. chart. The Shake It Off singer began re-recording all the albums she made for her first record label, Big Machine, after its 2019 sale to music manager Scooter Braun, giving him ownership of her master tapes. Following the sale, the musician, who had previously feuded with Braun, vowed to re-record all her first six albums in order to retake control of her music. She has so far re-released Red, Fearless, Speak Now and 1989. THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
