Caption: Late-Night Shows to Return As WGA Strike Ends. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which began May 2, ended at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 27. A three-year "minimum basic agreement" was approved by the guild's negotiating committee on Sept. 26, NBC News reports. As a result, writers are now permitted to return to work. Members of "Strike Force 5," a podcast formed by Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and John Oliver to benefit their out-of-work staff took to social media to announce that their respective shows will resume. Issues that were negotiated in the WGA deal include better wages, an increase in health care and pension contributions, increased streaming residuals, rules about AI and more.
