Caption: Late-Night Shows to Return As WGA Strike Ends. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which began May 2, ended at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 27. Members of "Strike Force 5," a podcast formed by Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and John Oliver to benefit their out-of-work staff took to social media to announce that their respective shows will resume. "Flash! Their mission complete. The founding members of Strike Force 5 will return to their network television shows this Monday, 10/2, and one of them to premium cable on 10/1.", Strike Force 5, via X. Bill Maher also took to X to let people know that his show will be resuming. "My writers and Real Time are back! See you Friday Night!", Bill Maher, via X. Issues that were negotiated in the WGA deal include better wages, an increase in health care and pension contributions, increased streaming residuals, rules about AI and more.
