The former One Direction star was caught on a speed camera driving his black Ford Ranger Wildtrak Deranged Edition truck at 43mph in a 30mph road in West London in February. Court papers obtained by London's Evening Standard show that the 30-year-old has admitted to the offence and apologised. He faces a possible six-month road ban when he is sentenced on 9 October. Writing to Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court, Payne stated, "I did not realise the speed limit and apologise for speeding”. Seemingly referring to a request for his financial details, he added, "I am self employed and cannot provide the information at this stage. However I will pay any fine imposed within 14 days.” The case was adjourned last month until 9 October "to consider disqualification from driving”. The hearing is also expected to take place behind closed doors and Payne is not due to appear in court. Earlier this week, the Strip That Down singer was seen in public for the first time since he was hospitalised in Lake Como, Italy with severe kidney pain in September.
