The arraignment had reportedly been delayed twice, as Davis sought to find legal representation. At the arraignment, Davis said that he had not retained his own counsel and was appointed a public defender. ABC reports that Davis is scheduled to make his next court appearance on November 7. In September, Davis was indicted by a Clark County grand jury on one count of murder with a deadly weapon with gang enhancement. The indictment comes nearly 30 years after Tupac's death. On September 7, 1996, Shakur died, succumbing to injuries caused by a drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip. The shooting occurred shortly after a brawl between members of two rival gangs in Compton, California. Davis is accused of being the "shot caller" who orchestrated the "retaliatory shooting" which resulted in Shakur's death.
