Unofficial goodie bags produced by LA-based marketing company Distinctive Assets will include invitations to swanky vacations plus odder gifts such as raw dehydrated cat food. Nominees including Cillian Murphy, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone have the chance to hit the slopes of the exclusive Swiss ski resort of Zermatt chill at the Golden Door holistic wellness retreat, or spend a three-night stay in a private villa in the Caribbean playground of St. Barts. Among the odder gifts are the cat food, 3D selfie figurines, and a private show with mentalist, Dr. Carl Christman. There are some charity items too, as 10,000 dog meals are donated from each bag in support of PETA's Global Compassion Fund. The company behind the bags, Distinctive Assets, hopes the bags will “pamper, delight, surprise and inspire... regardless of whether or not they take home that iconic gold statue.” The bags are not affiliated in any way with the Oscars or the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, but stars can still expect luxury and extravagance. The contents of the bags also include supplements, skincare, tequila, gourmet popcorn, a sound bath, gratitude postcards, and even a Rubik's Cube 50th anniversary collector's edition. The 96th Academy Awards take place on Sunday 10 March 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
