According to TMZ, the country singer was charged with two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance. He also received a third charge for violating Tennessee's vehicle registration law, for reportedly having expired tags on his vehicle. Rucker, 57, was brought into jail around 10am and released around an hour later. His bond was set at $10,500 (£8,200). Following the incident, Rucker's attorney, Mark Puryear, told multiple outlets, "Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges.” Hours after the news broke, Rucker's ex-girlfriend, comedian Kate Quigley, wrote on X/Twitter, "Yes. I've heard. All I can say is Karma.” She later posted a bikini selfie and added, "Mood when u hear your d-bag ex got arrested. #Karma.” Quigley, who dated Rucker for less than a year in 2020, previously called out the Wagon Wheel singer online in 2021 after he told reporters she was "doing great" when she was hospitalised following an accidental overdose.
