Headline: UNCAPTIONED: BMW Unveil First Electric Armoured Car For Heads Of State

Caption: Political leaders can now live up to their rhetoric about saving the planet without compromising their security. That’s because BMW has unveiled the first certified, heavily armoured electric vehicle. Two new cars for VIPs have been developed on the basis of the new BMW 7 Series - with an electric version billed as the world’s first-ever protection sedan with an all-electric drive system. The BMW i7 Protection is driven by two powerful electric motors and has a self-supporting body structure made from armour steel. This is then combined with features such as additional armouring for the underbody and roof and glass. All this provides protection against bullets, explosions and drone attacks while highly advanced sensors and cameras mean drivers can monitor threats. Another advantage over traditional armoured cars is that it is lighter and thus has greater manoeuvrability. The i7 Protection can sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) from rest in 9.0 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 160 km/h (99 mph). The protection vehicles are set to make their public debut at the IAA Mobility 2023 international motor show in Munich, with deliveries commencing in December 2023.
