Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Microsoft selling streaming right for Activision Blizzard to Ubisoft

Caption: Microsoft selling streaming right for Activision Blizzard to Ubisoft. Eurogamer report that in order to get the enormous $68.7 billion dollar takeover deal done, Microsoft have made the agreement with Ubisoft official. Not part of the original plan, the change is however necessary to keep hesitant UK regulators minds at peace. What does it mean exactly? Well if the deal goes through, for the next 15 years, Ubisoft will have streaming rights for all new Activision Blizzard console and PC games. So basically the next 15 years of Call of Duty games will be streamable forever via Ubisoft cloud services if Microsoft is the proud owner of Activision. This doesn’t however mean that Microsoft will control ‘exclusive’ rights to stream Activision Blizzard games, as explained by Microsoft president Brad Smith. ”Under the restructured transaction, Microsoft will not be in a position either to release Activision Blizzard games exclusively on its own cloud streaming service - Xbox Cloud Gaming - or to exclusively control the licensing terms of Activision Blizzard games for rival services”. “Ubisoft will be able to license the games to a range of other cloud gaming and subscription services, and pay Microsoft for the rights to each title via a "one-off payment" and "an option that supports pricing based on usage”.
