Caption: Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff celebrate Cruel Summer's chart success. The pop song has finally reached No. 1 on America's Billboard Hot 100 chart, four years and two months after it made its first appearance. The singer and her frequent collaborator remarked upon the track's delayed success in an Instagram video on Monday. ”The song that we said was the best song, but we thought, 'Oh, you know what? This will be our secret best song.' That's what we thought,” "We just wanted to say thank you so much for making Cruel Summer a Hot 100 No. 1, and it's not even summer anymore. It's deep fall, I'm wearing a sweater.” Many fans expected Taylor to release Cruel Summer as a single after she dropped her album Lover in August 2019 but she did not. However, the unpromoted album track still managed to chart at No. 29 at the time. Due to the song's popularity on The Eras Tour, the 33-year-old released Cruel Summer as a single in June this year and it has been in the Top 10 since early July. Following the recent release of The Eras Tour concert film and a live version and remix of Cruel Summer, the song has finally made it to the top spot, giving Taylor her 10th No. 1 on the chart.
