Headline: Water Levels Drop At Gajah Mungkur Reservoir

Caption:

Local residents are fishing in the receding floodwaters in the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir area. As a result of the dry season, the water level in the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir has dropped by approximately 4 meters. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the onset of the 2026–2027 rainy season in 529 Seasonal Zones (ZOM)—representing 61.08% of Indonesia’s territory—will be delayed compared to the climatological average. A very strong El Niño phenomenon and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) in the oceans surrounding Indonesia have contributed to reduced rainfall.
