Headline: Erosion Closes Portion of Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach

Caption:

Another portion of the Southern California coast is showing damage from unusually high surf. Erosion has caused a large crack to form along a cliffside that supports a stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway near the Laguna Beach border.

The fractured bluff could be seen after months of powerful waves battered the coastline, spawned by recent hurricanes and El Nino conditions.

One lane of southbound PCH is closed between El Morro Canyon and Irvine Cove to keep drivers away from the damage, which is along the edge of the roadway near the Crystal Cove State Park lifeguard headquarters
