Palestinian farmers came under attack by Israeli settlers and Israeli forces as they headed to harvest olives on their land in Deir Abu Mash’al, northwest of Ramallah. The event marked the village’s first olive harvest gathering of the new season. The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that its teams treated nine people injured during the incident. The injuries included one caused by live ammunition to the thigh, two caused by rubber-coated metal bullets, and six resulting from physical assault. One of those struck by a rubber-coated metal bullet was photojournalist Issam Al-Rimawi. The incident occurred during the annual olive harvest, a vital season for Palestinian farming communities whose livelihoods and access to agricultural land have been affected by settler attacks and movement restrictions in the occupied West Bank.
