Caption:

Demonstrators clash with riot police in central Barcelona following a mass protest over the city’s housing crisis.

Groups threw objects at officers and set up burning barricades after the main demonstration ended, prompting Mossos d’Esquadra riot police to charge and disperse crowds around Passeig de Gracia, Placa de Catalunya and nearby streets.

Around 20,000 people attended the earlier housing demonstration according to Barcelona police, while organizers estimated 120,000, calling for action over rising rents, evictions and housing affordability
