Headline: 30th Concurs De Castells Human Towers In Tarragona

Caption:

Members of the CASTELLERS DE SANTS casteller group (also known as a 'colla' or 'colles'), wearing their traditional grey ('grisa') shirts, experience the full emotional cycle of building, crowning, successfully dismantling (descarregar), and euphorically celebrating a complex human tower during the second day of the 30th Concurs de Castells (human towers) at the Tarraco Arena Plaza on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Tarragona, Spain. Working in unison, the group first organizes the massive 'pinya' (base) and climbs the 'tronc' (trunk). After the 'canalla' (children) safely crown the top to perform the triumphant 'aleta', the castellers carefully climb down level by level. Upon safely reaching the ground, the entire group erupts into euphoric celebration, highlighting the intense physical and emotional effort involved in this display of teamwork. The Concurs de Castells, whose origins date back to 1932, is the world's most prestigious biennial human tower competition, highlighting a Catalan tradition recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage
