Max Chilton drives a McMurtry Spéirling prototype electric car during a public demonstration at the Champions Coronation Race Day in Castle Combe, Wiltshire. Built nearby in Wotton-under-Edge, the 1,000bhp electric car can accelerate from 0-60mph in 1.55 seconds, has a top speed of 190mph and a starting price of £995,000. The demonstration nearly did not take place following an earlier three-car crash involving a Lamborghini Huracán, Peugeot 106 and Honda CRX, which damaged around 10 metres of crash barriers and temporarily halted racing while repairs were carried out.
