Headline: Housing Rights Protest In Madrid

Caption:

Tens of thousands of people took part in a housing rights demonstration in Madrid organized by the Madrid Tenants' Union, which called for a general strike across Spain until measures against real estate speculation in Madrid are approved. The march came one week after a large protest encampment began at Puerta del Sol. The encampment prompted the government to approve two decrees containing housing measures demanded by activists, although Parliament rejected the measures the previous Friday. Demonstrators marched through Madrid as part of the ongoing campaign over housing rights and measures addressing real estate speculation.
