Karin Sczech, the City of Erfurt·s UNESCO representative, and Christian Tannhäuser, regional specialist for Central Thuringia at the Thuringian State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and Archaeology, are examining the excavation site behind Erfurt City Hall. The excavation work is intended to expand on existing knowledge about the settlement of Erfurt·s second Jewish community, which was located in this area from 1354 to 1454. Since 2023, Erfurt·s Jewish-Medieval Heritage has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
