The drink is traditionally regarded as a blessing by devotees. Swet Bhairab, a representation of the Hindu deity Bhairava, is displayed publicly during the annual festival and remains covered for much of the rest of the year. Indra Jatra is an eight-day religious and cultural festival featuring processions, masked dances and traditional rituals in Kathmandu.
