Firefighters from the Generalitat de Catalunya demonstrate outside the regional Interior Department during a protest demanding better pay, improved protective equipment and increased staffing and resources. Around 800 firefighters took part in the march from Plaça de Sant Jaume, according to Barcelona’s municipal police. Protesters used pyrotechnics and smoke flares as the demonstration intensified outside the Interior Department.
