Shepherds are leading a herd of cattle down into the valley. In the coming weeks, the animals will be brought back down from the mountain pastures to the valley in numerous towns throughout the Alpine region. Down in the valley, the animals are gathered at the Scheidplatz and returned to their owners. In the Allgäu, this procedure is called the ·Viehscheid.·
