Thousands of residents gathered for prayers to commemorate Aceh Peace Day at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province, Indonesia, on Saturday. The peace agreement between Aceh and Indonesia is known as the Helsinki MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), which was signed on August 15, 2005, in Helsinki, Finland. This agreement ended a long-standing armed conflict between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) that had lasted for 30 years.
