The body of veteran Nepali mountaineer Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta) arrives at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, after being repatriated from Pakistan following the Broad Peak avalanche, August 6, 2026. Gurung's remains were accompanied by Nepali lawmaker and mountaineer Mingma Gyabu "David" Sherpa. Family members, fellow climbers, officials from the Nepal Mountaineering Association and members of Nepal's mountaineering community gathered at the airport to receive his body. Gurung was among nine climbers killed in an avalanche on Broad Peak (8,047 metres) in Pakistan's Karakoram range on July 30, 2026.
