Homes, villages, and agricultural land remain inundated after five consecutive days of heavy monsoon rainfall triggered widespread flooding across Chattogram District in southeastern Bangladesh. Thousands of families have been displaced, with many seeking shelter in government schools after floodwaters engulfed homes and destroyed livelihoods. According to the Department of Fisheries, at least 7,400 commercial fish ponds, shrimp farms, and other aquaculture facilities have been submerged, resulting in estimated losses of Tk 39 crore (approximately USD 3.2 million). Although floodwaters have begun to recede, many residents remain unable to return home and face a long and uncertain recovery.
