An osprey (Pandion haliaetus) about five weeks old lies on a blanket during the banding process. Bird experts, with support from the energy provider WEMAG, are currently banding the chicks that hatched a few weeks ago. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, there are more than 250 breeding pairs of ospreys that raise about 400 chicks each year.
