Torsten Marczak, volunteer state coordinator for ospreys and peregrine falcons in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, holds an osprey about five weeks old in his hands after banding it. With support from the energy provider WEMAG, bird experts are currently banding the young birds that hatched a few weeks ago. There are more than 250 breeding pairs of ospreys in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which raise about 400 young birds each year.
