Headline: Young ospreys are ringed in Germany

An osprey (Pandion haliaetus) about five weeks old is fitted with a numbered band from the Hiddensee Bird Observatory during the banding process. Bird experts are currently banding the chicks that hatched a few weeks ago, with support from the energy provider WEMAG. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, there are more than 250 breeding pairs of ospreys, which raise about 400 chicks each year.
