Torsten Marczak, volunteer state coordinator for ospreys and peregrine falcons in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, holds an osprey about five weeks old in his hands after banding it. With support from the energy provider WEMAG, bird experts are currently banding the young birds that hatched a few weeks ago. There are more than 250 breeding pairs of ospreys in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which raise about 400 young birds each year.
