Ornithologist Rico Spangenberg (left to right), Tina Voitel from the Nature Conservation Agency, and ornithologist Jonathan Oeser are holding young ospreys. For the fourth time, three of these nestlings were banded. To do so, the team climbed up to the nest on a high-voltage power pole, briefly removed the birds, and fitted them with numbered bands on the ground. This effort supports research on these rare birds, which live in our region from March through September.
