New Forest ponies have died following an outbreak of equine influenza, a highly contagious viral respiratory disease. The virus has been detected in the New Forest National Park for the first time in 30 years, raising concerns for the iconic free-roaming herd. So far, up to 10 ponies have reportedly died as the outbreak continues to spread.
