USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientists traverse the tephra deposit from the ongoing eruption to collect real-time measurements of lava fountain heights, tephra dispersal, and the crater floor during episode 49 at the summit of KÄ«lauea inside the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, June 14, 2026 near Hilo, Hawaii. The eruption lasted approximately 7.5 hours with lava reaching a maximum height of about 210 m
