A sponsor (l-r), Christian Meyer (Alliance 90/The Greens), Minister for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection in Lower Saxony, and employees of the Norddeich seal station open one of two crates of seals that are being released into the wild on the East Frisian island of Juist. The weakened animals had previously been reared at the Norddeich seal station (Aurich district) until they were fit enough to survive independently in the Wadden Sea.
