An injured Ukrainian defender in a wheelchair, released from Russian captivity, is taken into a special medical bus, Chernihiv, Ukraine, April 11, 2026. On the eve of Easter, Ukraine carried out another prisoner-of-war exchange, returning 182 Ukrainians - 175 servicemen of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the Border Guard Service, along with seven civilians. The released defenders had fought in Mariupol, at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and across the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kursk directions. Many are wounded, and most have been in captivity since 2022.
