A man looks at the “Turning Point in War” installation under the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People in Kyiv, Ukraine, April 7, 2026, marking the fourth anniversary of the liberation of the Kyiv region from Russian occupiers. The installation consists of a concrete slab from Antonov Hostomel Airport, broken in half, with a stele rising from the crack. It symbolizes the strength and resilience of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, which shattered the aggressive plans and elite units of the Russian army. During the solemn ceremony, servicemen placed on the stele the sleeve insignia of their units that defended Kyiv and the region in February-April 2022. These units were the first to halt and then expel Russian forces from Ukrainian soil. Thanks to their efforts, April 2, 2022, became the historic date of the final liberation of the Kyiv region
