Headline: Muskrat control in Lower Saxony
Caption:
Elmar Brinkhuis, muskrat control coordinator for the Dutch Waterschap Vechtstromen, with a triggered trap containing a muskrat. The muskrat threatens dykes, dams and banks through its burrowing activity. The Netherlands in particular is therefore trying to keep the population of this invasive species low. To prevent too many muskrats from entering the Netherlands from Germany, they want to track down muskrat burrows in the border region in the county of Bentheim and equip them with traps.
