People gather during a joint funeral ceremony held for Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Basij commander Major General Gholam Reza Soleimani, and 84 sailors from the Iranian Navy frigate IRIS Dena at Enghelab Square in Tehran. Larijani and Soleimani, among the highest-ranking Iranian officials killed since the outbreak of the war on February 28, were killed in U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on March 17, according to Iranian state media. The 84 sailors were killed when the IRIS Dena was sunk in a torpedo strike by the USS Charlotte, an American submarine, off the coast of Sri Lanka on March 4.
