Inside one of Gaza City's overcrowded displacement shelters, Palestinian artist Marah Al-Za'anin is putting the final touches on a new artwork before hanging it on the fabric wall of her tent.

What was once a temporary shelter for the 18-year-old, forcibly displaced from her home, has become a small art gallery documenting through black-and-white drawing the details of Palestinian suffering over two years of war.

Sitting on the ground surrounded by artworks taped to the tent walls and using basic drawing tools she struggled to obtain, Al-Za'anin says art has become her only way to release negative energy and escape the scenes of death and oppression experienced by Gaza's residents since the war began
