The Shuvaddya canal, connected to the Buriganga River in Keraniganj, Dhaka, has been completely clogged by piles of garbage and plastic waste. The area is dominated by garment factories and small businesses, whose waste”including polythene, plastic packaging, and discarded materials is routinely dumped into the canal. Over time, the waterway has become filled, halting water flow and causing severe environmental pollution.
