A fire broke out in a displacement tent belonging to the Abu Al-Khair family inside Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City, killing a mother and her child, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The ministry said the fire erupted while cooking was taking place inside the tent on Thursday evening (1st January), quickly engulfing the shelter where displaced families were living. Civil Defense teams rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze and secure the area. The incident underscores the severe risks faced by displaced families living in makeshift tents amid Gaza's ongoing humanitarian crisis.
