French far-right leader Marine Le Pen was convicted of embezzling European Union funds, alongside two dozen members of her National Rally (RN) party.

She was sentenced to four years in prison, with two years suspended and the remaining two to be served under home detention, in addition to a fine of 08,200.

She also received a five-year ban from holding public office, which will prevent her from running in the 2027 presidential election unless the ruling is overturned on appeal next year
