Headline: Outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Germany
Caption:
Goats stand on a farm and eat hay. Following the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in water buffalo in Brandenburg, further animals have to be killed as a precautionary measure. Today, 55 goats and sheep as well as three cattle are to be culled as a precautionary measure on a farm in Schöneiche (Oder-Spree district), according to a spokeswoman for the district. The background to this is that the farm had purchased hay from the affected buffalo farm in Hönow.
