Traffic is congested as thousands of displaced people flocked to the devastated Beirut southern suburb, a bastion of pro-Iranian Hezbollah. A ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia came into force in the early hours of 27 November, but it was preceded by heavy explosions in the Beirut area right up until the ceasefire start time.
