Headline: RAW VIDEO: Residents Rescued From Rooves Due To Flooding In Italy's Emilia-Romagna Region
Caption:
This video footage shows floods in the Bagnacavallo and Traversara towns in the Emilia-Romagna region on Thursday (19 September 2024).
It shows Italian emergency rescue teams using two helicopters to evacuate people trapped on rooves due to flooding caused by Storm Boris and the breaching of the Lamone embankment.
Italian authorities have evacuated around 1,000 people from homes as the tail end of Storm Boris hits the north eastern part of the country - which was also devastated by flooding last year.
Storm Boris has swept across central and eastern Europe, killing 24 people, before hitting the Emilia-Romagna and Marche regions on Wednesday.
Storm Boris has brought widespread flooding and torrential rain in Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania.
Experts say climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of these extreme weather events.
