Male gorilla Sango sits in his enclosure during the presentation of a research project based on artificial intelligence by the Hasso Plattner Institute and the Berlin Zoological Garden. Students at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) have developed a model that can use AI to distinguish and recognize individual gorillas and thus draw conclusions about their behavioral patterns. Cameras have been installed on the gorillas' outdoor enclosure that can recognize individual gorillas. This "gorilla tracker" will later be used to observe the behavior of gorilla groups in their natural habitat.
