The presence of NYPD in Central Park to curb crime and robberies due to alarming rate of criminals stealing cellphones and electronic devices. The department has issued an alert, warning people to avoid walking and talking on cellphones, to keep phones out of sight when not in use and to use headphones-if they can't see it, they can't grab it. They advise people to keep record of device serial numbers and to register phones, music devices and laptops in NYPD Operation ID Program.
