Conservator Britta New (left) explains how she approached the restoration. Following a 14-month restoration carried out in the Gallery's Conservation Department, Rubens's The Judgement of Paris (probably 1632) returns to public display on 18 June 2024. This masterpiece, painted by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) in the last decade of his life, depicts Paris making his choice between the goddesses Venus, Minerva, and Juno. The restoration reveals new discoveries about this significant piece within the National Gallery Collection.
