Headline: History made as John Moran elected Limerick Mayor

Independent John Moran has made history in Limerick, becoming the first-ever directly elected mayor in Ireland.
Moran was deemed elected on the 12th count with 28,451 votes despite not reaching the quota after the 18,875 votes of Fianna Fáil's Dee Ryan were distributed.
The quota was 39,873.
Helen O’Donnell, also an independent, finished second with 23,829 votes.
