City and county offices along with public and private schools have all closed Friday Jan. 12, 2024 in Sioux City, Iowa due to a winter storm warning bringing another 9-11 inches of snow which started Thursday evening and runs until noon Friday. Many businesses have also closed as a blizzard warning begins immediately following the storm warning running from Noon Friday through Saturday evening, Jan. 13, and possibly into Sunday. .2024 Republican presidential candidate hopefuls all have plans to visit caucus attendees in western Iowa, but some visits were cancelled with others pending depending on the weather. Central Iowa including Des Moines where Republican candidates have based their operations is also under winter and blizzard storm warnings with travel not advisable at this time. Predicted temperatures for caucus day Monday Jan. 15 is still predicted to fall between -1 to -11 during the daytime with colder temps for the evening
