Onlookers watch the water release at the Mandelholz dam. Water flows into the Kalte Bode at the bottom outlet of the Mandelholz dam. Rain and meltwater have filled the Mandelholz dam near Elend. The dam serves as a flood protection basin for the Kalte Bode. The dammed-up water is currently being drained in a controlled manner. Up to 95 cubic meters of water flow into the cold Bode every second, creating a tremendous natural spectacle.
