The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have renewed their offensive against Hamas in Gaza since a temporary ceasefire expired on Friday (1December2023). In a statement, the IDF said: “Over the past day, Israeli Navy forces supported ground troops with strikes on dozens of operational targets belonging to terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. These targets include compounds from which terrorists attacked and fired mortar shells at the forces.” The IDF has expanded ground operations into southern Gaza since the end of the truce. They also claimed to be operating against “Hamas strongholds” in the Jabaliya refugee camp in the north of Gaza, which Israeli military officials say troops have encircled.
